Pythagorean Theorem-in a right triangle the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the legs. a2 + b2 = c2
hypotenuse-the longest side of a right triangle- opposite the side opposite the right angle
abyss comes from the Greek bussos which means bottom, combined with the prefix a- which means without.  The adjective formed from it is abysmal, which means too deep or too great to be measured.
The adjective distraught is formed from the Latin verb trahere which means to draw and the prefix did- which means apart.  To be distraught is to be so agitated or upset that one's attention is likely to be drawn away from or pulled apart from whatever might otherwise engage it.
The verb distract is formed in the same way.  This verb means to have one's attention drawn away from whatever ought to engage it.

constant-In Algebra, a constant is a number on its own, or sometimes a letter such as a, b or c to stand for a fixed number
linear-arranged in or extending along a straight  line
quadratic In mathematics, the term quadratic describes something that pertains to squares, to the operation of squaring, to terms of the second degree, or equations or formulas that involve such terms. Quadratus is Latin for square.
cubic-having the shape of a cube
polynomial-consisting of several terms.
monomial-an algebraic expression consisting of one term
binomial-consisting of two terms
trinomial-consisting of three terms

A 17 Million Digit Prime Number WOW

A new prime number, thought to be the largest ever identified, has been discovered by a professor at the university of Central Missouri. Curtis Cooper used a giant computer network to do the work to find the 17-million digit number - which is a number divisible only by itself and by one.
