Like terms contain the same variables such as 2x and x. A term withhout a variable is called a constant. Constant terms are also like terms.
3 + 2x + 5 + x + 6
2x and x are like terms
3, 5, and 6 are constants and like terms.
Area of Parallelogram, Triangles and Trapezoids
A parallelogram is a special kind of quadarilateral - with opposite sides parallel and opposite sides congruent.
The area of a parallelogram can be found by multiplying the measures of its base and its height.
The base can be any side of the parallelogram that contains one end of the altitude (top or bottom- not inclined side a perpendicular line can not be drawn to the inclined side)
The height is the length of the segment perpendicular to the base with endpoints on opposite sides - usually shown by a broken line (in the picutre below the height is not shown with a broken line but designated by the letter h) and the symbol for a right triangle.
